Adam Reid’s 45th minute header means Banchory St Ternan have scored 2000 goals in Junior football.
The 18 year old, signed from Glendale Amateurs scored his 1st 2 goals in his 2nd start for the club, in Saturday’s game against Longside FC at Milton. Saints were 4-0 winners on the day as Reid’s 2 headers were followed up with goals from Jordan Clark and Steve Young to seal the 3 points with a tremendous second half performance. Gordon Humble was on hand to hit us with some Saint’s stats and it’s taken 470 games to reach 2000 since Barry Hulse scored Saint’s 1000th goal on the 25th February, 2006 at Cruden Bay in the Morrison Trophy 2nd round.
The Saint’s boss was delighted for Adam and the team
Your first goal for the club is always special so not only will he remember it, but it’s now an important part of the Saint’s history. With Stevo and Jo getting their first goals for the club too, it’s great we won the game and the occasion wasn’t overshadowed by defeat. A good day all round for us and hopefully plenty more goals to come from the club and Adam.
I was very pleased to score my first goal for the club and at the same time write myself in to Banchory’s history books with the 2000th goal for the club. It was a very special moment when i was told about this landmark goal. My first 2 goals were quite unusual due to the fact they were both headers and i don’t tend to score headers. I hope to continue on and score many more goals during the course of the season.
